Before we know it, the snow will have melted and yet another holiday season will have come and gone. But after all the gifts have been handed out, the best of all remains – the moments we created with the ones around us. So this year, unwrap more than gifts, unwrap memories. As the Posse shares some of their favorite holiday moments, look back on your own holiday gatherings and experience the joy of Christmas all over again:
As the days seem to go by faster and the months blur into one large season, it seems almost impossible to add another item to our hectic schedule. When the year is about to round out and Christmas season falls upon us, it is finally the time when we take a step back from the daily grind to truly enjoy life. That is why Christmas is the most magical time of the year as we allow ourselves to let our love and happiness take priority.
Christmas has taken on an entirely new meaning for me over the years as it is no longer about Santa, presents, or a break from school; but rather about the memories that are made with your loved ones. One specific Christmas memory does not come to mind but rather a conglomeration of memories: family Christmas parties filled with laughter, baking cookies while watching favorite holiday movies, driving around Cheyenne looking at Christmas lights, and sitting around the fire to blissfully enjoy a drink and allowing time to almost come to a stop. As I have gotten “older”, I have now focused on the quality time spent with family, as that is the most priceless and irreplaceable gift of them all.
May you have a wonderful, healthy, and happy Christmas with your loved ones filled with exceptional memories. I look forward to seeing y’all in 2017 … Let Er Buck!
I love the spirit of Christmas, and the anticipation of the New Year. My holiday memories are full of love, family, happiness, good food, and delightful Whisky!
I always gift a bottle of Pendleton Whisky to my immediate family, as well as my closest friends. They continually boast on how they look forward to it every year, so that they can try out new recipes and enjoy their classic favorites.
In addition to the whisky, I enjoy the beauty of the snow, taking the kids horse back riding, eating green bean casserole and sweet potatoes, since it’s the only time of year I get the luxury of such food, and our traditional ‘ugly sock contest’.
You read that right, ugly sock contest. Buy the ugliest socks you can find, hand them out to the family, everyone puts on their new socks, we judge which are the ugliest, and the winner gets to sport a pink flamingo in their front yard until the next Christmas gathering.
There’s nothing better than free ugly socks, knowing that a family gathering will take place next year, that we will live out our traditions once again, and endless love will fill the home. Whatever your holiday traditions, enjoy them to the fullest, and above all, be happy!
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Let ‘Er Buck!
The holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year. The gathering of family, the creation of new memories, and the boundless sounds of laughter never cease to put a smile on my face.
This year is extra special for me, as my out-of-state sister and her family are flying up to spend the holidays with us. I’ll get to meet my niece for the first time, introduce my new daughter to her family, and let our boys reacquaint themselves.
As I’ve grown, what has become most important to me is the creation of new memories and living in the here and now. I cannot wait to soak up family time, to cherish every minute I get to spend with them, and be with those I love most.
