2025 Military Edition NOW AVAILABLE
Born of the rich, century-plus tradition of the Pendleton Round-Up, Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition celebrates and honors the generations of rodeo champions who risk life and limb to share their skill, courage, and athleticism to uphold the traditions of the American West.
Since 1910, the Pendleton Round-Up has brought together a devoted community of families, volunteers, and competitors, each one contributing their time, grit, and heart to uphold the spirit of the West. It’s their shared dedication that makes the rodeo possible year after year.
The Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition was created to honor not just the fearless competitors, but also the countless volunteers who help bring the Round-Up to life. It’s a pour worthy of their passion and a tribute to the champions and supporters, past, present, and future, who carry on this legendary tradition.
The Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition bottle has the same liquid in it as Pendleton® Whisky Original and it features an annually redesigned label honoring the spirit of the Pendleton Round-Up and the people who make it possible: its fearless competitors and dedicated volunteers.
Designed to resemble a champion’s rodeo buckle, the label features intricate western flourishes, including bejeweled floral detailing and painted enamel textures that bring the artistry of the rodeo arena to life. Metallic gold and silver accents, layered with expert embossing, add depth and shine, while a burnished black background and iconic bucking bronco create a dramatic, display-worthy finish. Much like the prized buckles awarded in the ring, this limited-edition bottle is crafted to be treasured – an emblem of grit, glory, and western tradition. Produced in limited quantities and available exclusively in Oregon, the home state of the Pendleton Round-Up, this bottle is as rare as it is meaningful.
Champions aren’t just born, they’re nurtured carefully with intention and commitment. We craft our whisky in the same way, hand-selecting the finest grains, cutting it with pure glacier-fed Mt. Hood water, and handcrafting it to preserve its unique character. Aged in oak barrels, Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition is cut to proof before packaging in our unique bottle, embossed with the Let’er Buck slogan, a tip of the cowboy hat to our namesake, the Pendleton Round-Up.
The uniquely designed label is a tribute to the brave rodeo competitors and volunteers that we celebrate.
This easy-sipping whisky can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a whisky cocktail. Pour it while you’re watching the rodeo or whenever you want to toast a champion.
Some may wonder why whisky is so connected to cowboy culture. The relationship goes back as long as there’s been cowboys and whisky.
Whisky distilling came to America in the 1700s. European settlers used crops that grew well here to create a distillate, which became so popular that the government decided it had to be taxed. That’s when whisky went underground, scattering production to Kentucky and Tennessee (bourbon’s birthplace) and inspiring saloon-keepers to start making their own.
Whisky was the drink of choice for cowboys, especially during the gold rush, when cowboys rode west to seek their fortunes. While whisky quality was unreliable at the time, cowboys were never risk-averse. However, given the option of drinking coffin varnish or something better, they would always choose quality if they could, many traveling far and wide to visit establishments known for their whisky.
Like any championship performance, preparation is just as important as the event itself.
We recommend pouring Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition neat into a rocks glass and savoring its aroma before indulging your palate. On the nose, you’ll find sweet vanilla, butterscotch, and a hint of cinnamon. As it unfurls on your palate, spicy aromas give way to dried fruits and honey, finishing smooth and clean with hints of toasted oak.
If you prefer your whisky on the rocks, pour it over a single large ice cube.
Pendleton® Whisky Champions Edition is made for the faithful. It is produced in limited quantities so pick up a bottle for yourself and the champion in your life.
