Hosting a Holiday Party with Pendleton® Whisky

As the holidays approach, many of us are planning get-togethers with family and friends. If you’re a whisky lover, there’s no better way to celebrate than with Pendleton® Whisky; it’s a tradition as time-honored as the rodeo and a simple way to toast our Western roots.

We have some festive holiday drink recipes, easy food recipes, dessert ideas, and special whisky gift ideas to ensure your holiday party is memorable for one and all!

Easy New Year’s Eve Cocktails with Pendleton® Whisky

Midnight Shindig

The Midnight Shindig is the perfect celebratory cocktail: a blend of Pendleton® Whisky Midnight and your favorite champagne. Pendleton® Whisky Midnight adds a richness to balance out the crisp bite of the champagne, with a sugar cube and a dash of bitters to round it out. You’ll never want to cheers with anything else.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Champagne flutes
  • Muddler
  • Mixing glass

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.5 oz Pendleton® Whisky Midnight
  • 1 Sugar cube
  • 2 Dashes aromatic bitters
  • Champagne

METHOD:
In a stirring glass, add sugar cube and aromatic bitters and muddle well into a paste. Add Pendleton® Whisky Midnight and ice, and stir for 10 seconds. Pour mixture into a flute glass and top with champagne.

Western Godfather

This cocktail is perfect for those who prefer to sip on something that’s a little sweeter. You can also serve it after dinner, either with dessert or as dessert.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Rocks glasses
  • Ice Cube Tray

INGREDIENTS (Makes one drink):

  • 2 oz Pendleton® Whisky Midnight
  • 1 oz Amaretto
  • Cocktail cherries (optional)

METHOD:

  1. Fill the rocks glass with ice
  2. Add ingredients
  3. Garnish with cherry if desired

SPICE UP HOLIDAY RECIPES with Pendleton® Whisky

WHISKY-SPIKED GRAVY

Whisky in the gravy? Yes, please! When making pan gravy, simply substitute some of the water for whisky. Add the whisky as close to the end of the process as possible to ensure the flavors don’t get boiled out of the sauce.

WHISKY GLAZE

You can also make a whisky glaze for ham or turkey!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Basting brush
  • Large roasting pan

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • ¼ Cup Pendleton® Whisky Original
  • 1½ Tsp fresh cracked black pepper
  • Turkey or ham

METHOD:

  1. Combine brown sugar, Pendleton® Whisky Original and fresh cracked black pepper
  2. Stir until ingredients are combined
  3. Brush on your turkey or ham before baking and baste periodically during cooking
  4. Brush on a final glaze before serving

Easy Whisky Desserts

Whether you’re planning to cook a turkey, ham, or a plant-based feast this holiday, nobody will argue that we all look forward to dessert. Here are a few ideas to infuse every sweet morsel with whisky.

  • Substitute Pendleton® Whisky Midnight in recipes that call for vanilla extract or any other liquor. Just exchange the vanilla extract for 1 to 2 times the quantity of whisky. One of our favorite examples is butterscotch pecan brownies, as the warm cinnamon notes of the whisky add a layer of flavor that takes these simple treats to the next level. This is a great way to modify your favorite recipes and make them extra special for the holidays!
  • Make a whisky whipped cream to put on dessert!

WHISKY WHIPPED CREAM

This one’s simple. This recipe takes whisky whipped cream to the next level and is a dessert on its own, or a perfect topping to place on your favorite dessert.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Food processor, hand mixer, or stand mixer
  • Rocks glasses

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 2 Cups 35% whipping cream
  • 12 oz Fresh raspberries
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Pinch of Kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp mascarpone cheese
  • 3 Tbsp Pendleton® Whisky of your choice
  • 2 Tbsp honey

METHOD:

  1. Add half of the raspberries to a mixing bowl and crush with a spoon. Stir in lemon juice.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients (except raspberries) in a food processor and whip until stiff peaks form to form the whisky cream.
  3. Add a layer of whisky cream to your glasses, then a layer of crushed raspberries, and another layer of cream on top.
  4. Top with whole fresh raspberries for garnish.

You can prepare these in advance and keep them in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving, but it’s best served immediately.
